Los Angeles-based Director and Actor, Alberto “Mojo” Peña, also known as Mojo, is making a name for himself in Hollywood with his incredible talent and dedication to the craft.

Mojo is a first-generation Hispanic with Dominican roots who moved to Los Angeles during the peak of COVID in 2020. Two years later, he’s still a working Actor/Director/Filmmaker, proving that hard work and determination can pay off.

In this exclusive interview with The LA Note Magazine, Mojo shares his journey in the entertainment industry, the unique qualities that set him apart from others, and the challenges he’s faced along the way.

Passion, Dedication, and Love for the Craft

Mojo’s passion for movies and storytelling is evident in his work. He’s drawn to stories that make viewers feel something and learn something, whether it’s factual or about themselves.

Mojo’s work ethic is daily, intentional, and consistent, and he’s determined to give his all to every project, regardless of his role. He believes that films live forever, and if he doesn’t give each project 100%, he’ll regret it every time he re-watches it.

Mojo’s adaptability is another quality that sets him apart. He’s always willing to make decisions on the fly and be open to the director’s vision, whether he’s directing or acting.

Finding His Voice

Mojo realized his passion for filmmaking during a short film competition with his friend, Shan Karemani. The film was supposed to include dialogue but sounded so bad that Shan had the brilliant idea of turning it into a 1920s styled silent film.

Mojo was stunned when he saw the rough draft and realized that he could tell a story without using his voice. This discovery completely altered his perspective on the filmmaking process and allowed him to dig deep into his Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton stunts bag.

Overcoming Challenges

Mojo faced a challenging time during the holiday season at the end of 2021. With Covid and the time of year, there wasn’t a lot of work available, and he began to question his process and filmmaking abilities. However, he remained committed and created his goals list, which paid off when opportunities began to appear out of nowhere in the entertainment industry.

Mojo booked awesome work, such as a commercial that aired on Hulu, attending his first red carpet premiere for a movie he acted in, narrating his first audiobook, and so many other exciting opportunities. Going through that cold spell taught him that persistence leads to perseverance.

Mojo is a passionate Director and Actor who is making waves in Hollywood. His dedication and love for the craft have led him to where he is today, and his adaptability and persistence have helped him overcome challenges.

With his talent and commitment, Mojo is sure to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
