Actress, Writer, and Director Meitar Paz on Using Films to Create Positive Change

Early Beginnings and Unique Perspective
From a very young age, Meitar looked at the world differently. She viewed her surroundings through her own creative lenses and was captivated by the endless possibilities of creating and telling stories.
Her passion for performing began when she was eight years old, after joining a youth theater group in the Haifa theatre in her home country of Israel.
The experience affected her in ways she couldn’t explain, and she found herself again after a few years of feeling closed off and careful due to her parent’s divorce. Meitar says, “I felt like I truly found my passion, and more than that, I found myself again. I became much more confident and outgoing.”
Unique Challenges and Determination
One of Meitar’s biggest challenges occurred when she was still living and acting in Israel. After booking a guest star role in a famous Israeli TV series, she was hospitalized due to acute appendicitis that burst, requiring urgent surgery.
Despite the setback, she was determined to be on set, saying, “The show must go on.” Even though she could barely walk, she went to a set with titanium clips attached to her body, determined to make her dream a reality.
Goals and Aspirations
Meitar’s ultimate goal is to create a positive change through her films and inspire others to join her in fighting for a better future. She hopes to take her audience on a dynamic and insightful journey and continue to create meaningful and impactful content that will make a difference.
Her top three people to meet include Sarah Finn, the Emmy award-winning casting director of Marvel’s cinematic universe; Steven Spielberg, the renowned director and filmmaker; and Damien Chazelle, the French-American director, screenwriter, and producer known for his work on “Whiplash” and “La La Land.”
