Tommy Collier is a four-time Emmy Award-winning creative director, filmmaker and producer with 53 Telly Awards. Through GlamCam Studio™ he helps coaches, consultants, speakers and authors look as credible on camera as they are in real life. His framework, The 5 On-Camera Trust Levers™, covers lighting, audio, camera, background and set, and platform polish.
Tommy Collier has a blunt diagnosis for most experts who struggle online: they don’t have a content problem. They have a presence problem.
They are brilliant at their work, he says, but the screen isn’t telling the truth about it yet. Collier, a four-time Emmy Award winner with 53 Telly Awards, has spent his career on the other side of the lens. Now he helps coaches, consultants, speakers, authors and online experts close the gap between the authority they have and the authority viewers see.

ToggleHow did Tommy Collier get into video?
Collier describes himself as a nerdy, creative kid who never quite fit in. His dad taught middle-school technology, and the day a brand-new digital camera arrived in the tech lab, Tommy was hooked.
He studied video production at the Art Institute of Colorado and built a career in visual media. He built an ad agency’s video department from scratch, produced on-air graphics for Denver’s NBC station, won Emmys, and photographed the station’s anchors and reporters. Along the way he learned one lesson he still teaches: people read you before they hear you.
What turned his career around?
By 2013 Collier had what looked like a dream career, but he felt completely misaligned inside. He walked away to build his own creative business and burned out again.
The turning point came in 2016, when personal-development teacher Bob Proctor entered his life. Proctor, Collier says, didn’t give him motivation; he gave him structure. Collier rebuilt his business around headshot photography and took it from zero to $30,000 a month within six months. He eventually went on to work side by side with Proctor as his Creative Director and VP of Creative Media for the final four years of Proctor’s career. That chapter is the subject of a book Collier is now writing. His current business is his own and independent of the Proctor organization.
What are the 5 On-Camera Trust Levers™?
Collier’s framework is designed to turn an ordinary home setup into an environment viewers trust within seconds:
- Lighting: how your face reads on screen.
- Audio: whether people can listen comfortably.
- Camera: angle, framing and image quality.
- Background and set: what the space behind you says about you.
- Platform polish: how it all comes together wherever you show up.
He pairs it with the 3-Second Authority Check™, a quick test of the first impression you make before you say a word. He has run more than 50 on-camera presence audits through GlamCam Studio™, and his audit calendar typically books about two months out.
Why does authenticity not mean under-polished?
One of Collier’s core convictions is that being authentic doesn’t require looking unprepared. Many of the people he works with, mostly accomplished women 40 and up, have deep expertise that their webcam setup undersells. Today, he points out, the first impression almost always happens on a screen.
His work and his Substack, Designed, Aligned & Primed™, explore both sides of that equation: the outer presence of light, sound and set, and the inner alignment that lets leaders step into what he calls their “prime time.”
