When starting an email newsletter business, the first step is to determine the niche and platform you want to focus on. It’s important to choose a niche that you are interested in and knowledgeable about, as this will make it easier to create content and build a loyal subscriber base. Additionally, selecting a platform that offers user-friendly features and attractive templates is crucial for creating engaging emails.
For my email newsletter business, I decided to focus on the niche of four-wheel drive and outdoor activities in Australia. This niche is well-established and has great opportunities for marketing and brand sponsorships. To create my emails and manage my subscriber list, I chose Beehive as my email platform. Beehive offers stunning landing pages for capturing subscribers and provides excellent email templates, making the process of creating emails simple and efficient.
Finding a Sponsor
Once I had my niche and platform set up, the next step was to find a sponsor for my newsletter. After securing a sponsor, the next focus was on growing my newsletter subscriber base. I implemented three strategies to achieve this, ranking them from easiest to hardest.

I took advantage of these platforms by promoting my newsletter and encouraging people to join. By putting myself out there and sharing my passion for the newsletter, I was able to attract new subscribers who were genuinely interested in the content I was providing.

I shared teasers of my newsletter content in these groups, sparking curiosity and encouraging people to join my newsletter to access more valuable information. The third and most challenging strategy was viral marketing. While it can be difficult to achieve, viral marketing has the potential to attract a large number of subscribers in a short period of time. To leverage viral marketing, I organized giveaways or prize promotions that required participants to join my newsletter. By offering an enticing reward and creating buzz around the promotion, I was able to attract hundreds of new subscribers who were eager to join and stay engaged with my content.
